The Cactus Reining Classic is governed under the rules of the National Reining Horse Association, (NRHA) and American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA). Please see the NRHA and AQHA Handbooks for a complete list of rules and regulations.

The Cactus Reining Classic includes two Desert Reining Horse Association Affiliate qualifing shows. You must designate with NRHA which Affiliate organization you are riding under to qualify prior to their deadline for your points to count! Exhibitors must be members of the Desert Reining Horse Association PROIR to competing at the Cactus Reining Classic for points to count toward NRHA/DRHA Affiliate status and the DRHA year-end awards program. The Cactus Reining Classic will retain 50% of each division entry fee collected. 5% is required by the NRHA. The remaining 45% will be added to the division's overall purse.

In addition, the Top 25 Non Pro riders based on total earnings in NRHA Category 2 and 6 events for the previous three calendar years are not eligible. The Intermediate Open Derby consists of one go-round. Three judges,combined scores will determine placings. Entry into the Intermediate Open Derby division REQUIRES entry into the Open Derby division. If entered in the Intermediate Open Derby, entry into the Open Derby is ONLY $375. Open to any rider holding a valid NRHA Non Pro card who is not in the top 125 money earners in Non Pro classes based on Non Pro earnings in NRHA Category 2 and 6 events for the previous three years and whose horse is four, five or six years of age and holds a valid NRHA competition license. The Limited Non Pro Derby consists of one go-round. Three judges,combined scores will determine placings. Entry into the Limited Level 2 Non Pro Derby division REQUIRES entry into the Intermediate Non Pro Derby division. One $175 judges fee applies.
Class 8: $2,000 Added 4/5/6 Year-Old Level 1 Non Pro Derby
Open to any rider holding a valid NRHA Non Pro card who has earned less than $25,000 in life-time all NRHA Categories earnings at the start of the NRHA year and whose horse is four, five or six years of age and holds a valid NRHA competition license. The Level 1 Non Pro Derby consists of one go-round. Three judges,combined scores will determine placings. Entry into the Level 1 Non Pro Derby division REQUIRES entry into the Limited Level 2 Non Pro Derby division. One $175 judges fee applies.
Class Eligibility

MASTERS DIVISION (DRHA only)
For Non Pro competitors who are 65 years of age or older as of January 1st of the calendar year.

GREEN REINER ELIGIBILITY (DRHA only) is an entry-level I division.
For Non Pro, Youth, and Novice Amateur riders with less than $100 lifetime reining or reined cow horse earnings (from any and all shows, NOT limited to NRHA earnings) who have earned less than 20 NRHA Youth points, and/or less than 10 AQHA or ANY Breed or Club Associated reining or reined cow horse points at the beginning of current show year. In addition, rider cannot have won ANY Year-End Reining or Reined Cow Horse Award. Class will not be jackpotted and no prize money will be paid out. This is an award division only. Green Reiner points will count toward year-end awards. An eligible Green Reiner rider can compete in the division for the entire calendar year even if their earnings exceed the limit during the year.

GREEN AS GRASS ELIGIBILITY (DRHA only) is an entry-level II division.
For Non Pro, Youth, and Amateur riders with less than $150 lifetime reining or reined cow horse earnings (from any and all shows, NOT limited to NRHA earnings) who have earned less than 20 NRHA Youth points, and/or less than 20 AQHA or ANY Breed or Club Associated reining or reined cow horse points at the beginning of current show year. Class will be jackpotted and prize money will be paid out. Green As Grass points will count toward year-end awards. An eligible Green As Grass rider can compete in the division for the entire calendar year even if their earnings exceed the limit during the year.

Green As Grass and Green Reiner exhibitors may ride a horse owned by someone else, and not limited to a family member. However, to be eligible to ride in other divisions, the exhibitor MUST own the horse as stated in the NRHA handbook. NRHA Competition Licenses for horses entered are not required for Green As Grass and Green Reiner divisions. Green As Grass and Green Reiner are not NRHA recognized divisions, but will be judged based on NRHA rules. Riders are to show one handed in a shank bridle. An exhibitor may show in a snaffle or hackamore on horses 5 years of age or under.

General Rules and Regulations ____________
PRE-REGISTRATION/ENTRIES: Mail completed entry form, one per horse, with payment or open check postmarked by February 22nd. Pre-Registration does not require entry into a class. Pre-Registraion includes copies of CURRENT 2012 owner and rider association membership cards (NRHA and DRHA) and horse information. Post entries received after February 22nd will be accepted with a $85 post entry fee. Pre-Registered Entries received prior to February 22nd enable us to process entries in advance and results in less confusion and delay to all upon arrival. Post entries will be accepted until 5:00pm the night BEFORE the class is to take place. An ADD Card must be filled out in the show office for all added classes prior to deadline. A SCRATCH Card must be filled out in the show office for all scratched classes. NO CHANGES WILL BE TAKEN AT THE BACK GATE! NO EXCEPTIONS! Classes scratched PRIOR to the draw being posted will receive a full refund. NO REFUNDS ONCE THE CLASS DRAW HAS BEEN POSTED!

ARRIVAL: Exhibitors may arrive anytime after NOON on Monday, March 5th. Any early arrivals must be prearranged, based on availability, directly with WestWorld. For early arrivals, contact WestWorld at 480-312-6802.

STABLING: All stalls are perminent 12' x 12' metal stalls in breezeway barns containing 40 stalls each. Each stall includes 6 bags of white pine shavings. Stalls will be assigned on a first come first serve basis, with priority given to event sponsors. Stalls will not be reserved unless paid for in advance by the due date. Fee: $260 per stall

HAUL-IN: Horses on the grounds without a stall rental will be charged a $50.00 haul in fee. Fee covers entire show.

ADMINISTRATION FEE: A $50 Administration Fee must be paid with each horse entry.

VIDEO/PHOTO FEE: $10.00 fee applies to each horse entered in competition.

ONLY THE OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPHER WILL BE ALLOWED TO SELL PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE CACTUS REINING CLASSIC HORSE SHOW. All images pertaining to or in relation to the Cactus Reining Classic Horse Show are under the sole ownership of RBB, Inc. All other photographers must sign an agreement not to sell their photographs except to the publications for which they work. Only reporters assigned by recognized newspapers, radio or television or the Associated Press will be issued press passes. Requests for press passes MUST be sent in writing, faxed or e-mailed, on the stationary of the newspaper, magazine or broadcast outlet and signed by the editor. No one without a PRESS BOX PASS will be allowed in the press box.

RV HOOKUP: RV Hookups are available at WestWorld for a daily fee of $25, including tax, and come with electrical and water hook ups. A pumping station is located at WestWorld and is included in the daily fee. Please contact 480-312-6802 for RV space reservations.

ANIMAL CONTROL: Dogs are to remain on a leash and must be kept under control at all times. Dogs can cause safety hazards. Please be attentive in high traffic areas.

PARKING: No parking in the barn area of any kind. Please park in designated parking areas.

RETURNED CHECKS: Checks returned by the bank for any reason will be charged a 10% penalty (min. $50). Accounts will have ten days to be paid in full with cash or money order or they will be reported to the NRHA for further disciplinary action.

COMPETITORS: By participating in the Cactus Reining Classic, all competitors agree to abide by the rules of the show and the governing bodies, NRHA and AQHA. And acknowledge that horses are dangerous animals and can be hazardous. By participating in the competition with this knowledge of the danger involved the competitor agrees to accept any and all risks of injury or death.

The Cactus Reining Classic, RBB, Inc., Brumley Management Group LLC, reserves the right to make additions or changes to this event at any time.

Behavior and Conduct
NO MISTREATMENT OF ANY ANIMAL
WILL BE TOLERATED.
Any competitor, owner or trainer found to be abusing their horse in any way will be IMMEDIATELY disqualified from the competition and reported to the NRHA for disciplinary procedures.
UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT
Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated!
Any action of disrespect, deceit or fraud directed to show management, grounds crew, show representatives or judges will result in disqualification from competition and removal from the facility. Individuals accused of unsportsmanlike contuct will be subject to the disciplinary procedures set forth be the National Reining Horse Association in Article A of the handbook.
